The state schools ELT adviser’s office based in Veroia, Central Macedonia, is in charge of about 150 teachers of English in primary schools and is responsible for organising seminars on methodology, teaching approaches, teaching materials development and evaluation, classroom management and teacher development in general. It also supports and helps teachers of English by offering face to face advice and guidance, by designing materials or through classroom observations. It can also organise micro-teaching sessions and other presentations.

They will produce teaching materials and contribute to the evaluation, development, piloting, fine-tuning and dissemination of these materials. From there they will feedback to the framework (from practice to theory) and this way, they will contribute to the monitoring of the framework and other theoretical aspects of the publication. In addition to that, they will train teachers by organising relevant seminars, in applying the holistic approach to teaching in primary schools and in using the materials to be produced. They will also address teachers of French and German towards this direction.

Theodoros Skenderis has been teaching English mainly to secondary schools and occasionally to primary ones before becoming an ELT advisor for both primary and secondary schools. He holds a Diploma in TESOL (which included a materials design course) and an MA in Applied Linguistics. As an ELT advisor his job involves organising inset and developping seminars, helping teachers with the evaluation and selection of course books, observing classrooms and in general supporting and advising teachers of English. He is currently involved in the evaluation of course books which are being prepared by the Greek Pedagogical Institute for the teaching of English in state schools.

Chryssa Laskaridou is an experienced primary teacher of English who has been involved in materials development. She applies current approaches to her teaching and is interested in cultural awareness and the European dimension in language teaching and the cross-curricular approach. She is well experienced in European programmes and has been involved in the development of intercultural and early language teaching materials.
